Mercedes-Benz tops J.D. Power's List

J.D. Power released results for its annual Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study on July 16, 2009.

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was named the most appealing large premium car and the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLK Class the most appealing compact premium sport car according to the results of the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 APEAL Study.

In the study, the S-Class performed particularly well in the Driving Dynamics, Interior, and Engine/Transmission categories. Owners say the S-Class’ top three attributes are rear passenger head, leg and foot room; the usefulness of the glovebox; and the ease of getting in and out of the vehicle.

In the study, the SLK performed particularly well in the Exterior, Engine/Transmission, and Interior categories. Owners say the SLK’s top three attributes are the ease of using the navigation system, the effectiveness of the center console storage, and the ability of the navigation system to provide a desirable route.

J.D. Power's study examines how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive, based on owner evaluations of more than 90 vehicles attributes. The 2009 study is based on the responses of 80,900 purchasers and lessees of new 2009 model year vehicles between February and May.
